Only 84,900 tech professionals work in Vancouver, but that number is rising quickly. The entry and growth of well-known internet companies like Amazon and Shopify fuels a tech economy that has seen a 50% growth in tech jobs over the past five years and achieved an A+ for the quality of its tech personnel. 

  1. Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario 

With 22,400 tech workers and good labor quality, the Waterloo region has seen an increase of over 50% in the number of IT jobs over the last five years. If you meet the eligibility for Canada PR, Kitchener-Waterloo is the place to be. 

  1. Montreal, Quebec

Fifth-place Montreal completes the list. With 141,600 total employees, it has the second-highest proportion of tech workers in the nation, yet from 2014 to 2019, the city's tech talent grew by just 19.3%. High demand jobs in Canada are in great numbers in Montreal.

Despite having almost 45,000 workers in the IT industry and receiving an A for its quality of tech labor, Calgary has seen a loss in overall tech talent of around 7% over the past five years.

The smallest city on the list, Victoria, has about 10,500 tech professionals and has seen a growth of 15.7% over the past five years, growth that was probably aided in part by the high cost of living and lack of office space in Metro Vancouver.
