Saskatchewan: Best province for high demand jobs in Canada!

 According to the most recent statistics, job growth is increasing nationwide, with Saskatchewan performing particularly well among Canadian provinces that offer high demand jobs in Canada. 

High demand jobs in Saskatchewan saw the greatest month-over-month job growth rate among Canadian provinces. 


There were roughly 6,000 high demand jobs in Saskatchewan in December 2021, a rise of 1.1% over the previous month. The most substantial growth was seen in the professional, scientific, and technical services sector, and advances in full-time employment, mainly among men aged 25 to 54, were also highlighted. 




In the census metropolitan regions of Saskatoon and Regina, the unemployment rate in Saskatchewan was 5.4%, reaching pre-pandemic levels.


The three industries with the highest increases in jobs over the previous year were trade (7,400 more jobs), construction (4,700 more jobs), and health care and social support (8,000 more jobs). According to the data, the private sector created 10,800 new jobs during that time, while female employment rose by 10,600 and youth employment rose by 7,700. 


"Saskatchewan continued to produce jobs and routinely had among the lowest unemployment rates in Canada in 2021, despite the instability in the global economy. Our province is in an admirable position for economic growth in 2022. Our success is thanks to the tremendous work ethic and resiliency of high demand jobs in Saskatchewan creators who have continued to create employment and opportunity despite extraordinary challenges." according to a statement released from Jeremy Harrison, Minister of Immigration and Career Training.


While the unemployment rate decreased to a 22-month low of 5.9% from 6.0% in November, the economy created 55,000 high demand jobs in Canada in December. 


The number of relatively recent immigrants to Canada has recently increased to pre-pandemic levels after dropping due to restrictions on foreign travel. The overall number of immigrants who arrived within the past two years and are of working age (25 to 54) climbed by 0.6%, or 5,000, in December.


Canada's target of adding 401,000 new permanent residents was achieved in 2021, and the current administration aims to raise it to 411,000 for the following year.


Saskatchewan Immigration Programs

Anyone who wants to reside in a Canadian province other than Quebec may do so through Express Entry, Canada's primary immigration pathway. You must be eligible for one of the three Federal High Skilled Immigration Programs—Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, or Federal Skilled Trades Program—in order to apply through Express Entry. A candidate is assigned a point score via the Express Entry system based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). During regular schedule Express Entry draws, the top-scoring applicants are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.


The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program is Saskatchewan's own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) (SINP). As a result of Saskatchewan Express Entry, one of the SINP's streams, receiving a nomination from the province grants an applicant an additional 600 CRS points, all but ensuring that they will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. 


The province of Saskatchewan also provides the SINP's following streams, which are not compatible with the Express Entry system and require for candidates to submit their applications to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) directly after receiving a provincial nomination:


  • International Skilled Worker Category

  • Saskatchewan Experience Category 

  • Entrepreneur and Farm Category

  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Category


Saskatchewan also unveiled a fresh immigration pilot program in November of last year. Employers in Saskatchewan will be able to hire international talent for some of the most high demand jobs in Saskatchewan - thanks to the Hard-To-Fill Skills Pilot. Entry-level employment that might call for on-the-job training are eligible jobs under this pilot programme.
